Mother's Day Gift Guide

I was visiting my Mom about a month ago and saw this black and white picture in her room that I didn't even know existed - it was taken more than 30 years ago.  She wouldn't let me keep it of course, but I took a snapshot of it with my phone and now can look at it every day.  Do you have any pictures of you and your Mom that you discovered for the first time many years after they were taken?  Make your Mom's day special with a thoughtful gift from Loopy.  Visit our gift guide to get you inspired.  Select from beautiful French linens and vintage textiles, handcrafted Italian hats, the softest yarn and knitting kits, fragrant French candles.

Jeanette Farrier textiles--what a great Mother's Day gift idea!

Now available at Loopy Mango.

About Jeanette Farrier

Travelling in India at the end of the 1990s, costume designer Jeanette Farrier discovered the magical textiles that the women of West Bengal create from recycled cotton saris. Exponents of the traditional art known as ‘Kantha’, these expert seamstresses fold and stitch the soft cloth into an ultra-fine quilted fabric which is warm, durable and, with its myriad patterns and colors, of great beauty.
The ethos behind Jeanette’s work is that just as these wonderful textiles are valued and precious, so are the women: they are paid well and are able to work in their own homes. Today there are two villages outside Kolkata whose livelihood has been transformed through sewing Jeanette Farrier’s Kantha cloth.
